Bronze Medusa Necklace with Gold Fill Chain
This bronze Medusa necklace depicts one of the greatest tragedies of Greek mythology. What is it about her that fascinates us? Medusa is the epitome of a woman scorned, wrongly turned into a gorgon by Athena, and doomed to live a lonely life as a monster before being beheaded by the hero Perseus.
But the irony is Medusa became quite the badass while a gorgon, and even after her death. Her spilled blood and her death stare created vast coral reefs and the Atlas Mountains, and she gave birth to Pegasus, a magical winged horse, after she was slain. Medusa, whose name means protection, became legendary, living forever in the hearts and minds of all who have a soft spot for monsters. Perhaps "monsters" serve unexpected purposes for humanity, like imparting empathy, teaching justice, and rethinking outcasts and freaks.
Comes on a simple 14k gold filled 18" cable chain with a spring ring clasp, adjustable to 16". The charm measures 24x18mm, excluding jumprings.
Bronze used is a high-quality Italian alloy of copper and tin that contains an anti-tarnish compound which delays, but does not eliminate, eventual oxidation.
