Sterling Silver Amphora Bottle Pendant

This sterling silver amphora bottle pendant celebrates the long and far-flung history of a humble vessel. Earliest known amphora bottles date back to 6000 BC, and used for trading varied goods throughout Eurasia, like olive oils, grapes, wine and grain. Over time amphora bottles were used for social and ceremonial purposes too, like trophies for athletic and military feats inscribed with "I am the prize from Athena." These were so valued that the victors were often buried with their amphorae.
